Citizenship
Since there are no real requirements (yet), everyone can become a citizen of Lochlainn. All races and all classes (and therfore also all deities) are welcome in Lochlainn. The following points must be taken into consideration however:
- You can't of course be in any guild when you want to become a citizen of Lochlainn. Even if we aren't a guild in our setup, we will still be a guild technically (in terms of gameplay).
- As long as you are able to pay the moderate taxes and follow the few city rules, you are welcome to stay a citizen as long as you like.
- The council however reserves the right to withdraw the right of citizenship in severe cases of disloyalty or when citizens break the rules once too often. Detailed City Rules will follow soon.
As a Lochlainner you get all the bonuses for being in a guild and still be free to do whatever you want. You will have a city to call home and a safe haven to return to from your dangerous adventures out in the Hyborian World. Lochlainn will provide the best possible crafting halls players can build so as a crafter, you will get the tools you need to make the items everyone will be looking for.
Or you want to form a jagged alliance by getting some citizens together and group a mercenary band of your own. The fact that Lochlainn is a free city surely will attract both able fighters as well as wealthy benefactors with ambitions that make it impossible for them to plot their rivals downfall anywhere else than a free city of the trade and the blade. We expect self organised troops to leave Lochlainn for the Border Kingdom daily. You won't carry the flag of Lochlainn to the PvP battlefields, you will carry the banner of your own mercenary band.
Magician and Shaman will travel from afar to buy the secret ingredients to many a deadly spell from merchants within the walls of Lochlainn. Some spellweavers might even become residents when they find out that nothing at all is impossible in Lochlainn. As long as you don't blow up the city walls or summon a demon from Arallu to go rampant in the streets of Lochlainn that is!
There will most probably be some sort of "Call of Duty" where the City Council needs to gather all or some citizens for a certain task in order to protect Lochlainn. This could be a call to arms for all or specific classes or a call to help build some important buildings etc. Every citizen must follow such a "Call of Duty" under all circumstances.
One of the few duties you will have as a citizen of Lochlainn is to pay taxes. The taxes will be needed to protect the city (e.g. hire NPC guards, build fortifications etc.) and to make sure that Lochlainn will live long and prosper.
All citizens will elect the 9 membes of the City Council. Some decision however might be too important for just a few players to decide so there will most probably also be votings about important issues that every citizen can attend to.
Every archetype (Mage, Priest, Rogue and Soldier) and the Crafter prestige class will have a spokesman in the council. This guarantees that everyone has a person to contact if some issues concerning a specific class have to be discussed or changed.
