| Story: | Far to the east, beyond the devil-haunted towers of Zamora and the wind-tossed waves of the Vilayet Sea, the Empire of Khitai spirals slowly into chaos. The tendrils of darkness spread through the lands, tainting them. The Hyrkanians, kept at bay for thousands of years by the Great Wall, now spill across the Northern Grasslands in a wave of savage slaughter. The once beautiful lands of Chosain Province burn as power-hungry warlords fight to control every inch of the land. And behind the scenes, sorcerers play games of power for stakes that would shrivel the soul. The desert of Kara Korum seethes with alien creatures, bizarre and twisted forms of life that cry out human voices yet attack with demonic fury. And deep in the vine-choked jungles of Paikang, the heart of the corruption beats to the rhythm of another world. Now, the slave who became a liberator must walk the dark roads of the empire and rise against the darkness that dwells there.
Too long has the God-Emperor, Yah-Chieng, ignored the wailing of his people and the demands of his loyal subjects. Khitai crumbles, yet he locks himself away, obsessively contemplating an abomination from the stars. The final hour is a scythe, and it swings towards the neck of the God-Emperor. The factions all tire of his rule and want you to end it. Venture on a perilous journey to the Jade Citadel, a massive structure towering above Paikang City. Battle your way though the Emperor's Garden and a living Zodiac; battle the Emperor himself, the greatest sorcerer of the East, and prepare to face a terrible choice that will shape the very future of Khitai. Yah-Chieng was the sorcerer who in the story "The Return of Conan" kidnapped queen Zenobia and brought her to his castle in Khitai. King Conan tracked down Yah-Chien and finally slew him. The story "The Return of Conan" is chronologically set between "The Hour of the Dragon" and the short stories collected in "Conan of Aquilonia". It might therefore well be that Zenobia (who we have yet to meet in the Age of Conan MMO althoug the story of the MMO is officially set after "The Hour of the Dragon") has not yet been captured by Yah-Chieng. |

| Characters: | Conan Yah-Chieng
Obviously (since this is an expansion to the Age of Conan MMO) there are again too many characters and NPC to be mentioned here. After all, the expansion adds a whole new nation to the game including cities, jungles, grasslands and steppes and many more locations that are bustling with activity and inhabitants. Conan is of course again present and he is the one sending the players to far-off Khitai to investigate about the rumors and gossip that have come to the King of Aquilonia's attention. Like Thoth-Amon is the final arch enemy in the original Age of Conan game, in the expansion it is Yah-Chieng, the God-Emperor of Khitai. |
